ECB ACO Introduction to Umpiring Course
Are you looking to enter the world of cricket umpiring? Whether you're a parent/teacher umpiring kids or school teams, a current player who does his/her 10 over stint, or you're looking more seriously at starting your umpiring career - we have the course for you!
This course is designed to give new umpires the key skills, knowledge and confidence to stand as an umpire in cricket. No prior experience of umpiring in cricket is required before attending the course. Whether you plan to support Junior Softball cricket through to adult cricket, this course will cover the following topics;
- Understanding the role of the umpire
- Gain a basic understanding of umpiring the game
- Answering appeals and the common methods of dismissal
- How to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the game
- Judging whether it is safe to play
This will give you the confidence and competence to go and umpire at appropriate levels within recreational cricket. The cost of this course is £70.00 - this covers the cost of the course, one year's free membership of the ECB ACO (including umpire insurance) and a voucher for a free ECB ACO polo shirt.

League Umpire Training Course
For new umpires looking to stand in league cricket for the first time (such as the Worcestershire County League, or other local leagues), we are running a FREE League Umpire Training Course. The course will run across four mornings (9am to 1pm) at Kidderminster Cricket Club on:
This course will cover the main laws of the game in detail, as well as the playing regulations practised in the Worcestershire County League and give you all the skills and knowledge you need to join a league umpires panel.
